Ride 4 a Woman Update 12.18.24

We received this update from Ride 4 a Woman, exactly three months after installing solar power at their Community Center through GivePower. We are thrilled to share this good news.

Dear Deborah,

The solar panels that were installed in our center last September have helped us a lot. They had a very direct and positive impact on:

  • We are now using clean and renewable energy, making Ride 4 a Woman energy-sufficient and much more sustainable and respectful with the environment.

  • No more power cuts - we are no more experimenting with the electricity cuts that we used to have when using the general grid. This is amazing for us because it allows the staff members who are working with PC and Internet to have smooth and constant connection, and the women who work with electric sewing machines to not depend on the power cuts.

  • Less fuel expenses - We have a fuel generator for those times when the power went out, and it is very expensive. Thanks to the solar panels, the use of the generator is now almost zero.

Since September, Ride 4 a Woman has been working a lot, making a lot of progress in the different programs that we have:

  • Building a home - Evace's house is finished and she and her family moved to the new house 2 weeks ago.

  • Building a home - We've supported Ruth (our chairperson) to build her future new home. The house is not finished yet but it is very advanced.

  • Light a home - We've provided solar panels to 10 families.

  • Children sponsorship - 20 new kids have been sponsored.

  • Microfinance - 30 loans have been granted.

  • Agriculture - 100 women received (as they do twice every year) seeds and tools to plant in their yards/lands.

Finally, this week we are going to give 10Kg of food (onions, tomatos, posho, corn flour, sugar, salt, cooking oil and meat) to many families around the community.

Deborah, let us know if you need anything else.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year 2025.

Evelyne and Denis.
